February Meeting – Business meeting with show & tell followed by a workshop on how to knit a perfectly fitting sweater. Bring a sweater which fits just the way you like, whether hand made or not, and using the measurements and a formula, replicate that fit in your own hand knit sweater. Also bring knitting supplies, calculator, and a pencil with a good eraser.
We should have the sample baskets (Williamsburg or Yarn) for the May basket workshop so we can vote on which one to make. Everyone will be making the same basket. The materials fee will be $30-$35.
At the January meeting the guild received thanks from the Vera House for the hats knitted as well as from St. Marie for those who demonstrated during the holidays.

Lorraine S is busy knitting hats and mittens for the Head Start program at the Grace Episcopal church and any extra yarn would be welcome-- even the smallest ball of leftover yarn can be incorporated. Jill R mentioned a charity which is collecting baby or premie hats – Caps for Good program through Save the Children. They are collecting through February 28, 2011 and hats can be mailed to them at Save the Children, Caps for Good, c/o The Doe Fund, 173 Cook Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206. Also see GoodGoes.org/caps, through Save the Children, or through WarmUpAmerica.org, which has some cute hat patterns.
The auction is fast approaching in March so you might want to start thinking about that. Members are asked to donate at least two items to be auctioned, such as fiber, yarns, baked or home canned goods, plants, spinning or knitting related items, books, or other homegrown or homemade items.
